Sergey E. Borisov

Education: 
Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute, Therapy (Diploma with Honours), 1981 Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor. 
Professional Development: 
Highest qualification in tuberculosis control (from 1998), certificates of specialists in tuberculosis control, pulmonology, organisation of healthcare and public health. 
Research activities: 
Main publications (totally there are more than 300 publications in the Russian and foreign journals) were devoted to diagnostics and treatment of those suffering from sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, fibrosing alveolitis, non-specific inflammatory and other respiratory diseases. His candidate's thesis (1987) was devoted to differential diagnostics of disseminated pulmonary lesions, and doctor's thesis (1995) to epidemiology, diagnostics, treatment and dispensary follow-up of sarcoidosis patients. Professor of Phthisiology. Professor of Phthisiology Department of Russian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Training. Prof. Borisov was an academic advisor of 14 candidate's theses, all of them were successfully defended.

He is actively involved into clinical trials for new anti-tuberculosis drugs, development of new treatment regimens with new drugs, detection and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection in high risk groups particularly in those taking immune suppressive therapy by genetically engineered biologic drugs. He paid significant attention to diagnostics, treatment and dispensary follow-up of those suffering from mycobacterioses caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria. 
Clinical activities: 
He has been working as a doctor for more than 30 years. His first job was in Moscow Tuberculosis Research Institute (from 1998 - Phthisiopilmonology Research Institute of I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy) where he started as a junior researcher and was promoted to the deputy director on research. 
Since April 2009 he has been working as a Deputy Director for Research and Clinical Activities in Moscow Municipal Scientific Practical Center for Tuberculosis Control. 
 He has extensive clinical practice directly in the in-patient department and in Clinical Diagnostic Center (CDC) - he is a Head of CDC and Head of Central Medical Commission of Moscow Municipal Scientific Practical Center for Tuberculosis Control. He is advising to patients in the medical units of Moscow. Dr. Borisov maintains good relations with TB units in many regions of the Russian Federation. Every year he makes presentations at congresses including international ones, scientific and practical conferences, conducted in Moscow and other Russian regions, he gives lectures at the Phthisiology Department of Russian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Training, meetings of Moscow Phthisiologists' Society and other scientific and practical meetings.

He is a Board Member of Moscow Phthisiologists' Society, Presidium Member of Russian Phthisiologists' Society since 2001, member of World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Diseases since 1997, member of European Respiratory Society since 1997, member of the editorial board of Journal Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal Tuberculosis and Socially Significant Diseases.
