Atadzhan E. Ergeshov
Director of Central Tuberculosis Research Institute.
Atadzhan E. Ergeshov was born in 1961. In 1985 he graduated from Pediatric Faculty of the Second N.I. Pirogov State Medical Institute. From 1985 to 1987 he studied in the clinical residence by Central Tuberculosis Research Institute of USSR Ministry of Health. From 1987 till present he has been working in Central Tuberculosis Research Institute at the following positions: Junior Researcher, Researcher, Senior Researcher, Leading Researcher, from 2004 - Deputy Head for Research and Clinical Care and since 2005 - Director of the Institute.
In 1989 Prof. Ergeshov defended his candidate's thesis and in 1994 he defended his doctor's titled as Ultrasound in the Integral Diagnostics of Tuberculosis and Other Pulmonary Diseases. In 2000 Prof. Ergeshov was awarded with Professor's title. His research interests include diagnostics and treatment of tuberculosis, laser medicine, epidemiology of tuberculosis. He is the author of more than 120 publications, including 4 monographs and 5 guidelines. 7 candidate's theses were successfully defended under his guidance.
Prof. Ergeshov is Head of Academic Council and Dissertation Council of CTRI, Vise-President of Russian Society of Phthisiologists, Director of WHO Collaborating Center. Prof. Ergeshov is a doctor of the highest qualification with the following specializations: phthisiology, radiology, organisation of healthcare and public health. In 2006 he was awarded with the Medal of Excellent Worker of Public Health for his contribution into development of the Russian medicine.
