Vladimir D. Parshin


Vladimir D. Parshin was born in Moscow in 1959. 
In 1983 he graduated from First I.M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical Institute.
In 1983-1985 he was a clinical resident specializing in surgery in All-Union Surgery Research  Center.
From 1985 to 2013 he worked in All-Union Surgery Research Center of RAMS in Pulmonary and Mediastinum Surgery Department, first as a junior researcher, then as a senior, leading and chief researcher.
From 2004 to 2013 he was a Head of Pulmonary and Mediastinum Surgery Department, Russian Surgery Research Center named after B.V. Petrovsky by RAMS. Vladimir D. Parshin is a highly qualified and professional surgeon performing all types of chest surgeries as well as plastic and reconstructive surgeries of trachea and larynx. He is one of the leading specialists in this field in this country.
In 1990 he successfully defended his Candidate's thesis on Surgical Treatment Results of the Patients with Intrapulmonary Metastases under academic guidance of Prof. Yu.V. Biryukov.
In 1995 he was awarded with the Highest Qualification in Thoracic Surgery.
In 2001 he defended his Doctor's thesis on Diagnostics, Prevention and Treatment of Cicatrical Stenosis in Trachea.
In 2004 the monograph on surgeries of cicatrical stenosis of trachea written by Dr. Parshin was recognized as the bet research paper of Russian Surgery Research Center by RAMS. 
In 2006 he was awarded with the title of Professor in professional line of 14.00.27 - Surgery.
From September to November of 2000 Dr. Parshin had training in the University of Southern California (Los Angelos, USA), where he studied thoracic surgery.
In 2007 he had training in Hanover, Germany. During this training special attention was paid to the transplantation of lungs. 
Since 2012 Dr. Parshin has been the President of Moscow Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is a member of Academic Councils of Russian Surgery Research Center by RAMS, Sklifosovsky Emergency Care Research Institute. He is a Secretary of Task Group on Thoracic Surgery by RAMS. Dr. Parshin is a member of editorial boards of the following medical journals: Khirurgiya, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, Surgery of Tadzhikstan.
He provides consulting and surgical support in other medical units of Moscow, Russia and CIS countries. He has developed and introduced into wide clinical practice the principally new types of microsurgery on trachea, which are protected by RF patents.
   In 2006 the first successful transplantation of trachea with retained blood supply within thyrotracheal complex was performed under his command.
In 2008 he is a laureate of All-Russian Awards of Best Doctors of Russia - Mission.
He is also a laureate of Meshalkin's Award for Achievements in Thoracic Surgery.
   Dr. Parshin teaches students of the last years of training in First I.M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical University as well as surgeons from various regions of Russia. 6 candidate's and doctor's theses were successfully defended under his guidance.
